LEARN MORE ABOUT DENTAL CARE

The following resources include public listings provided for convenience, but they are not a recommendation or endorsement by the District.

Why is Dental Care Important?

Dental disease is preventable, and proper dental care is very important. Here are some of the reasons:

  • ✔ Children need healthy teeth to eat, talk, smile, and feel good about themselves.
  • ✔ Children with cavities may have difficulty eating, stop smiling, and have problems paying attention and learning.
  • ✔ Tooth decay is an infection that may require emergency room treatment and can permanently damage adult teeth.

How to Support Healthy Dental Habits

Kids should have their first dental visit around 6 months (or when they get their first tooth).

  • ✔ Take your child to the dentist twice a year.
  • ✔ Choose healthy, fresh foods for the family.
  • ✔ Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste; floss once daily.
  • ✔ Limit candy and sugary drinks that can cause cavities.
